The Nurses Prayer Almighty God Divine Healer of all, grant me your attendant strength and courage to my calling. Give to my heart compassion and understanding. Give to my hands skill and endurance. Give to my mind knowledge and wisdom. And, Dear Lord help me always to remember the true purpose of my vocation-that of my selfless service and dedication to the weak and despairing in body and spirit. In Jesus name, Amen.
A Physician's Prayer Dear Lord, Thou Great Physician, I kneel before Thee. Since every good and perfect gift must come from Thee, I pray that You give skill to my hand, clear vision to my mind, kindness and sympathy to my heart and strength to my body. Lord, I ask for singleness of purpose and the ability to lift at least a part of the burden of suffering from my fellow man. I pray that I will always realize that being a Physician is a privilege and honor. And Lord, take from me all guile and worldliness so that with the simple faith of a child I will rely on Thee. Amen
Bless This House Bless this house Dear Lord above with Thy happiness and Thy love. Bless the door that opens wide to the warmth that waits inside. Touch the windows with Thy light. Be our comfort in the night. Grant us peace and sweet accord, make this house Thy home Dear Lord. "Through wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established; By knowledge the rooms are filled with precious and pleasant riches." Proverbs
Father, I ask you to bless my friends reading this right now Lord. Show them a new revelation of Your love and power. Holy Spirit, I ask You to minister to their spirit at this very moment. Where there is pain, give them Your peace & mercy. Where there is self-doubting, release a renewed confidence in Your ability to work through them. Where there is tiredness, or exhaustion, I ask You to give them understanding, patience, & strength as they learn submission to Your leading. Where there is spiritual stagnation, I ask You to renew them by revealing Your nearness, and by drawing them into greater intimacy with You. Where there is fear, reveal Your love, and release to them Your courage. Where there is a sin blocking them, reveal it, and break its hold over my friend's life. Bless their finances, give them greater vision, and raise up leaders, and friends to support, and encourage them. Give each of them discernment to recognize the demonic forces around them, and reveal to them the power they have in You to defeat it. I ask You to do these things in Jesus' name.
THE NEW SCHOOL PRAYER
Now I sit me down in school Where praying is against the rule For this great nation under God Finds mention of Him very odd. If Scripture now the class recites, It violates the Bill of Rights. And anytime my head I bow Becomes a Federal matter now. Our hair can be purple, orange or green, That's no offense; it's a freedom scene. The law is specific, the law is precise. Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice. For praying in a public hall Might offend someone with no faith at all. In silence alone we must meditate, God's name is prohibited by the state. We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks, And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks. They've outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible. To quote the Good Book makes me liable. We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen, And the 'unwed daddy,' our Senior King. It's "inappropriate" to teach right from wrong, We're taught that such "judgments" do not belong. We can get our condoms and birth controls, Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles. But the Ten Commandments are not allowed, It's scary here I must confess, When chaos reigns the school's a mess. So, Lord, this silent plea I make: Should I be shot; My soul please take! Amen
FIVE FINGER PRAYER It is always appropriate to begin your prayers acknowledging the sovereignty and blessings of God. The Five Finger Prayer technique below is a great model for prayer:
Your thumb is nearest to you. So begin your prayers by praying for those closest to you, i.e., your family and friends. They are the easiest to remember. C. S. Lewis once said, "To pray for our loved ones is sweet duty." The next finger is the pointing finger. Pray for those who teach, instruct and heal. This includes, chaplains, teachers, doctors, lawyers, pastors, and others who instruct us. They need support and wisdom in pointing others in the right direction. Keep them in your prayers. The next finger is the tallest finger. It reminds us of our leaders Pray for the President, our military leaders, elected officials in the National, State, and local government, leaders in business and industry, and administrators. These people shap our nation and guide public opinion. They, too, need God's guidance. The fourth finger is our ring finger. Pray for marriages and families around the world. Surprising to many, is the fact that this is our weakest finger; as any piano teacher will testify. It should also remind us to pray for those who are weak, the sick and shut-ins, the homeless, and for thosein trouble or in pain. They need our prayers, day and night. You cannot pray too much for them. And last, comes our little finger; the "pinkie", the smallest finger of all, which is where we should place ourselves in relation to God and others. As the Bible says, "The least shall be the greatest among you." You little finger should remind you to pray for yourself. By the time you have prayed for the other four groups, your own needs will be put into proper perspective and you will be able to pray for yourself more effectively.
JELLY BEAN PRAYER
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Red is for the blood He gave. Green is for the grass He made. Yellow is for the sun so bright. Orange is for the edge of night.
Black is for the sins we made. White is for the grace He gave. Purple is for His hour of sorrow. Pink is for our new tomorrow.
A jar full of jelly beans so colorful and sweet; is a prayer, is a promise, is a loved one's treat.
